Change the label name
Mac Tip #12/18-July-2001

Those labels (Tip 11) are pretty handy but maybe you don’t like the choice of colours. And what say “Hot” and “Project 1″ aren’t useful to you?

Well, you can change both these things to suit yourself. First make sure you’re in the Finder then go to Edit menu - Preferences. Now click on the Labels tab.

You can now easily change the names of the labels to something useful to you - clients, family, movies, fun, urgent - whatever will mean something to you.

You can change the colours too - click on the small box of colour and the Apple Colour Picker will appear. Now just choose a new colour.

Don’t understand the the Apple Colour Picker? Well, there’s a tip on that soon.

Note: changes you make to the colours and label names apply to your whole computer.

To see this Tip as a movie visit: http://www.firstbite.co.nz/movies/

The movie’s about 90Kb and should take between 20 and 40 seconds to download with a 56K modem.

SPECIAL REQUEST: the movies are an interesting learning point for me, but they do take quite a while to make. If you’ve actually viewed one or more of these movies could you drop me a note to let me know: miraz@firstbite.co.nz. If you feel like it you’re welcome to make any comments on the movies - such as anything which could be improved.
