Every couple of months it’s my great privilege as a volunteer to optimise photos and code up a newsletter for the Karori Sanctuary.
The latest Nature’s Corner newsletter, Early to Mid Autumn 2008 is now online.
It features: Hihi Herald; White Autumn Flowers; March of the Borer Beetles; Fruits of the Forest; Tiny Tigers of the Insect World; Fruits of the Underworld; Kereru Observer. And gorgeous, gorgeous photos. I just wish I could take photos like these.

One of the nicest things about Leopard’s Spaces is being able to press Control Arrow to slide everything out of the way and view an empty Space.
Thanks to Pic-a-Pod the desktop pictures on my MacBook are always gorgeous. When I’m working on a hard or annoying problem I just slide the work to one side for a moment and visit far away places for a rest. Ahhhhh.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a MacTip, Ever Fresh Desktop Pictures, about using a script to download the National Geographic Picture of the Day.
Well, it turns out there’s a simpler way, by using Pic-a-POD, and it does more:
- Download the picture of the day from your choice of four sites:
- National Geographic
- Astronomy
- Earth Science
- Wikipedia
- Set your desktop picture to one of the downloaded photos.
- Schedule downloads to update automatically.
- Change the desktop picture periodically.
- Download photos of the day for any selected date.
Nice.
