Take a look at the information Apple provides about timeserveres:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh531.html

Does that help?

Going out periodically to check the time server would be a fine thing, if my iMac actually did it. I am currently running Mac OS X 10.6.8. But neither under Tiger, Leopard, nor Snow Leopard does it actually check the time UNLESS and UNTIL I actually open Date and Time Preferences, in which case it usually readjusts itself within seconds.

Yes, I have the box checked to "Set date and time automatically" using the US server
(time.apple.com).

As my clock gets off by a few minutes a day, this can cause me to misjudge my scheduled appointments, conference calls, etc. Yes, first thing every day I could quickly open Date and Time Preferences and then be reasonably set for the day. But that is a far cry from being set "automatically." This iMac is on all the time (except when it sleeps) with an Internet connection available.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Bernie, as I recall it never automatically figures out my location. I always end up just telling it where I am. You may need to tell it you're in Calgary's timezone.

I can't change the time zone location for may MacBookPro.
The answer to my request is "unable to determine location at this time."
What time do you think it will be able to locate my computer?
Or what do I have to do to help the computer to locate me?
The time zone has been wrong since two weeks ago when I returned from Vancouver.
I'm now near Calgary.
