Report a Bug
Eudora Tip #231/14-July-2004
When people create software they don’t sit in a vacuum and magically know what people want or what’s not working right.
They need our feedback, our suggestions and our reports of problems to help them create the software we need and want.
One of the things they need to know is when we strike a “bug”, which is different from a problem.
A problem is something you can fix – for example you notice you’re not receiving your email. After some troubleshooting you realise it’s because the server was down or your Internet cable had fallen out, or it’s some other reason you can track down and solve.
A bug would be something like the difficulty I covered in Tip 206/19-Nov-2003, Panther and Attaching Files. In that case the “Attach” button was dimmed and we had to find another way of attaching files until the Eudora team fixed it.
If you’ve identified a bug in Eudora then it’s helpful to let the team know. Go to the Help menu and choose “Report a Bug”.
This produces a ready-made email message telling you what to do and listing all your settings. Just add the information required and send the message off.
And by the way: this is also a handy way to get a list of all your modified settings. Call up the message but don’t send it.
