Toolbar Search
Eudora Tip #223/12-May-2004
Eudora Tip #220 from 21-April-2004, Search from Eudora with Google mentioned v6.1′s introduction of a contextual search. Select some words, hold down the Control key and choose Search. I’ve found myself using this more often than I ever thought I would because it’s so convenient.
I also always have Eudora’s Toolbar visible on my screen when I’m using Eudora and v6.1 added a Search button there too. You can turn this on or off by visiting Settings — Toolbar and (un)checking Show Search Field. I have it on.
The search field offers a tiny text box with an arrow beside it. The arrow allows me to choose whether to search Eudora, the web or both.
This morning I had two of my cats microchipped and while emailing a friend about this I decided to search for information. I typed “pet microchip zealand” (without the quotes) into the search field and selected “web” from the arrow. This quickly took me to a page of Eudora-branded Google search results. You can also “activate” a search by clicking the small icon to the right of the text area.
If you have a mailbox open you can also choose to search within that mailbox.
This Toolbar search also remembers recent searches, as you can see in the screenshot. Click the thumbnail for a larger version.
