Contextual filing
Eudora Tip #219/14-April-2004
Eudora was recently updated to version 6.1. This Tip does not work in earlier versions.
Eudora can now make filing your messages easier, avoiding those long, tiring trips to the Transfer menu.
Now you can select a word in a message and Control-click on it. Eudora will detect whether you have any mailboxes whose name contains that word and offer to transfer the message to one of the mailboxes.
In my screenshot you can see I selected the word “Eudora”. (Click the thumbnail for a larger version of the screenshot.) I have three mailboxes whose name contains the word “Eudora”:
- eudora list
- eudora tips
- eudora tips archive
I can now transfer the message to one of those mailboxes by choosing it from the list.
Note: I actually have a couple of other mailboxes I might like to choose:
- eutips
- eutips discuss
They were not available from the contextual menu because they don’t actually contain the word “Eudora”.
Some mailbox renaming might be in order!
