Tabbed windows

Eudora has several “special” windows: the Address Book, Filters, Signatures, Stationery etc. You can select these from the Window menu. Call a couple up now and make sure they are at the front.

Now go to the Window menu and ensure that “Tabs” is checked for each one. Each window with Tabs checked now shows a button near the top of the window.

Adding Tabs to windows.

My screenshot shows Signatures and Stationery with a tab and Personalities without a tab. I’m selecting Tabs for Personalities. (Note: be sure to click on the teeny tiny thumbnail for a picture you can actually see.)

Three windows combined.

Now you can combine the windows into one “tabbed” window as the screenshot shows. Just drag the Tab from one window into another. The buttons will shrink and combine into one. Then you can switch between Tabs by clicking on the relevant part of the button.

can’t see them in the 5.1.1; is this for the 6.0.2 only?

Hmmm, I just checked Eudora 5 on my old iMac with OS 9. There are Tabs available and you can combine (and separate) windows by dragging the tabs. Take another look.

At first – I did NOT understand: “Each window with Tabs checked now shows a button near the top of the window.” I had to turn “tabs” on and of a couple of times; but now I see it clearly, and it is a fine innovation.
