Eudora Tip #212/25-Feb-2004
If it Works, Back it Up!
Is Eudora working well for you at the moment? If it is then you should right now make some back ups.
It seems like every day I read emails – on mailing lists or messages from my own clients – which ask how to resolve problems with Eudora. Some problems are simply based on lack of knowledge: “How do I file messages?”, while others suggest an actual problem. Sometimes the best solution is to replace the settings or some other file with a working backup. If you know Eudora’s working correctly at this moment, then this is a good time to make a backup.
See Eudora Tip #46 and Eudora Tip #47 from August 2000 for some tips on how to find the files to back up.
Here’s what I’d back up:
- Eudora Filters
- Eudora Nicknames
- Eudora Settings
- Nicknames Folder
- Personal Nicknames
- Signature Folder
- Stationery Folder
None of these have the actual messages, but they represent your Eudora address book, any customised stationery files or signatures and your filters.
