Eudora Tip #202/22-Oct-2003
That Sensitive Age
I have many mailboxes which receive mail, especially given the many mailing lists I subscribe to. When I look at a mailbox I like to see the messages sorted by date and grouped by subject but I also like to easily be able to see which are recent. That’s hard to do when all you see is a jumble of similar dates:
- 12/10/2003
- 19/10/2003
- 21/10/2003
It’s a lot easier if the dates display like this:
- 15/10/2003 18:35
- Thursday, 01:57
- Wednesday, 21:08
- 14/10/2003, 17:43
- Friday, 02:26
- Saturday, 04:34
- 03:11
- 04:27
- 06:23
These dates are age-sensitive. Those from a week or so ago show a date and time. Those from within the last week show a day and time. Those from today simply show a time.
Go to Special menu — Settings and choose Date Display. Set the Date Format to Age-sensitive.
To change how Eudora displays the time go to the International panel of OS X’s System Preferences. I have mine set to 24-hour which is why in the example above there are 18:35 and 21:08.
