More Filter Matches
Eudora Tip #193/20-Aug-2003
Eudora’s filters are very powerful, and with each new version more possibilities become available.
A couple of interesting new options in recent versions of Eudora are those which use “intersects”. You can choose “intersects nickname” or “intersects address book” as well as their opposites: “doesn’t intersect”.
A nickname is one single entry in an Address Book — for example the address for my friend Rachel. An Address Book is a collection of nicknames, and you might have several. For example, I have address books for Clients, Friends, and others for specific jobs I do.
I can use the “intersects” filter to ensure that my clients receive priority attention within my email. I’ve made sure to put this filter at the top of the list of all filters so that it’s acted on first.
Here’s how I’ve set it up:
I’ve specified that if the Header is “From” and that intersects the Address Book “clients” then the Action should make the message Highest Priority and transfer it to my In box.
Now, if you’re a client and I have you in my Clients address book your message will be trapped by my filter. When it arrives in my InBox it will be marked Highest Priority.
