The Crashing Bore
Eudora Tip #174/09-Apr-2003

A client recently contacted me because Eudora was crashing. It seems he’d received a message which was sitting in his In Box. If he so much as clicked on the message Eudora would crash his computer. He didn’t even need to open the message.

This was obviously one of those quirky messages which was somehow corrupted.

After some troubleshooting we sorted out a way to get rid of this problem message.

First he made a new temporary mailbox. Then he transferred all the other messages into that new mailbox.

Next he Quit Eudora, found the In Box in the Finder and trashed it. When he restarted Eudora she created a new empty In Box. My client then dealt with the messages he’d moved and everything was back to normal.

Sometimes you have to think “outside the box”.
