Importing from Entourage
Eudora Tip #160/11-Dec-2002
Some of my clients have tried out Microsoft Entourage (part of the Office vX suite of applications) and have then decided to return to Eudora. Unfortunately Eudora’s Import function doesn’t see Entourage. You can still fairly easily import your mail though.
Open Entourage and drag your mailboxes to the desktop. They will appear with names like: Sent Items.mbox.
Now use some software which can change the creator code and file type and change these to CSOm and TEXT. I used FileType 1.0.1 in my experiment (Mac OS X only).

Rename the mailbox (eg to: Sent from Entourage) and add it into your folder of Eudora mailboxes.
You’ll probably find that the message status is incorrect (eg my sent messages weren’t marked as having been sent) but you can easily change that in Eudora.
If you found this Tip useful you definitely need my ebooks Sizzling Safari Tips for Mac Users & 22 Tempting Timesavers for Mac Users. And remember to subscribe for regular Tips.

Quit Eudora. Locate the Eudora Folder (probably in Documents) which contains the Mail Folder. Move the new mailboxes into the Mail Folder and restart Eudora.
This method to transfer mails from Entourage to Eudora will work on the attached fils of\r not?
You will probably need to make sure you’ve saved any attachments to a folder of your choosing. The method of importing will probably lose track of the attachments.
I suggest you try it with one small mailbox and see how it works for you.
