What’s missing in the free Eudora?
Eudora Tip #152/02-Oct-2002
When you install Eudora on a new computer and start it up you’ll find it runs in Sponsored Mode.
That means you accept a small ad on screen in return for full use of the software. If you don’t want the ads you can either pay for Eudora or switch to Light mode.
Light mode is the free version with reduced features. If your email use is very basic then Light mode might be all you need.
To make the change go to the Help Menu and choose Payment and Registration. From the buttons at the top of the window click on Light Mode. It doesn’t immediately come into effect as first a dialog box comes up with a list of what features will be switched off if you run in Light mode.
These include spellchecking, stationery, advanced filtering, multiple address books, speaking, advanced search and multiple personalities, as well as many other features.
If you decide you don’t want to lose one or more of those you can still cancel and remain in Sponsored mode.
If you’re the kind of user who sends and receives only a few messages per day (or week); if you have only one email address and a few people in your Address Book; if you are excellent at spelling (or just don’t care) then Light mode could be useful for you.
