Eudora Tip #134/22-May-2002

Well, husband or no husband, you can call up the Task Progress Window and use the pop-up in the corner.

Go to Eudora’s Window menu and show the Task Progress window. I actually keep this open all the time so I can see what Eudora’s up to. What’s more, as the owner of a Powerbook, I often have reason to visit here.

In the bottom left corner you’ll find a small box showing a letter going into a mailbox. Click on there and a short menu with 3 items pops up.

You can choose to not check mail when not connected. I have Eudora set to check my mail automatically every 12 minutes. This works fine when I’m at home on a cable modem but is a waste of time when I’m out visiting a client and my computer’s not connected to the Internet. In that case if I’m not connected I don’t want Eudora to check my mail.

Those who use Powerbooks and iBooks can choose to not check when running on battery. This can help save power.

The third option allows you to go online and offline. When Eudora’s offline she won’t send mail or check mail. That means that my 12-minute checks won’t take place.

This is also the place where my correspondent can go back “online”.
